Apache Links

When I got my horse at the end of November in 1999, he was 3 1/2 years old. He was not even close to being fully developed. His head was way long for his body and he had little muscle tone. He has filled out quite nicely since then and grown into his long head, which looks quite elegant now, in my opinion. He is a bay tobiano pinto gelding. He is quintuple registered Tennessee Walking Horse, Racking Horse, Spotted Saddle Horse (SSH have two registries), and Pinto Horse and his official registered name is Gen's Tennessee Colors, but who's gonna call him that? His call name when I bought him was Apache, so that stuck. Please enjoy the photo albums I have put together of him at work and at play.

Apache is a sweetheart and I have totally fallen in love with the breed - their personality, their sweetness, their smooth ride.

Update 4/5/01: I have a bunch of new pictures that I took with my new digital camcorder, taken while he was playing with his buddy, Quinn the Thoroughbred. I am so happy with the camcorder! It said in the reviews that it didn't take good still shots, but I think most of these are great. Especially considering they were taken at night and I was across the arena from them for most of them, using my zoom. I was also using the lower quality mode that is supposed to compensate for your hands shaking. You can find some of these pictures in my Apache at Play album.

Update 6/19/01: I scanned a couple of the pictures from the first CTR (competitive trail ride) I took Apache to this year. It was a NATRC (North American Trail Ride Conference) ride on April 21st and 22nd at Sam Houston National Forest near Coldspring, Texas. Competitive trail riding is a great sport! You learn a lot about horsemanship, and more importantly, about your horse. It's amazing how much you discover about your horse when camping with him (and taking him through the wilderness). If you want to learn more about competitive trail riding in this area (Southern Central United States), visit the NATRC Region IV webpage. If you are in a different region or want to learn more about NATRC in general, visit the main NATRC webpage. You can see the pictures in my Competitive Trail Rides album.
Update 6/20/01: I added some photos from the latest CTR. It was another NATRC ride on June 9th and 10th on some land owned by International Paper Company near Jefferson, Texas. My riding buddy and I left after the first day because the trails were so muddy and boggy that we felt it was dangerous for us and the horses. Even if they changed the trail the second day, her horse was just back from a long term injury and it was her horse's first ride CTR, so she didn't want to strain her any more after putting her through 5 hours of knee-deep mud. You can see the pictures in my Competitive Trail Rides album.
Update 2/04/03: I have added a new photo album, Apache at Work, which contains pictures taken various times I have shown Apache. It will be updated as we continue to compete.

Update 6/15/03: I have added a section to the site that lists Apache's Show History. In addition to showing him in Halter, Western Pleasure, and Country/English Pleasure classes, as we have done successfully, I plan to show him at Jumping and Dressage shows, as well as in driving classes. I will keep his results updated as we go.
