Oh wow, what can you say about MTX that hasn’t already been said. I guess the first MTX song I ever heard was...it was so long ago, I can’t remember...ah, yes, it was on a tape my then-boyfriend made for me. It was Fill in the Blank. He also put Boredom Zone and Psycho Girl on it. I loved them all. I couldn’t get enough. So I started trying to find everything I could get my hands on. I have heard most everything they’ve put out, and got pretty close to owning all of it.

I guess I love MTX for their humor, more than anything (well, given the fact that the music rocks and I have this thing for pop punk). And their intelligence as well. I mean there are a good many funny punk bands out there, but not with the same twist of keen sensibility as MTX. They just take it to this whole new level. And they have a little something for everyone. Even if you don’t appreciate sagacity, atticisms, or a good pun, you can still enjoy them for their goofy songs about girls and their rockin’ upbeat tunes — hell, they’re even attractive! I know all the girls are all goo goo over Dr. Frank. He’s cute and all...but I think Joel is a superhunk compared to Frank, well, compared to most anyone I see in an average day. So no offense to Dr. Frank; I mean, that’s saying a lot. <sigh>

Now you see what I mean?!! Want more?!! Here’s another absolutely adorable picture. Anyway, from the several times I've talked with him, he seems quite genial, deliciously intelligent, and generally fun. My friend Melissa and I talked to him after a show Houston in January of ‘96. He talked to us for quite some time. They had to ask us to leave so they could close the place up, and we were the only ones left when we finally did. A couple of years later, my friend Liz and I hung out with him back stage for a while at a Houston show at the Blue Iguana. We didn't really get to talk a whole lot that time due to all the groupies hanging around. The last time I talked to him was again a year or two later at a Plus Ones show at Fitzgerald's in Houston. He actually seemed to recognize me that time. He chatted with us after their set while manning the CD/t-shirt booth and a bit more after the place was closing up and we had gone outside. Every time he seemed genuinely nice and obviously down to earth. Anyway, it just makes him that much more attractive. There’s nothing more enticing than a man with a wealth of intellect and a crack sense of humor. Okay, enough of my little conversation with myself here. On to what you came here for.
